The reason for mechanical punch press jamming

Mechanical punch press is a common metal processing equipment that can process metal sheets or metal blanks into various shapes of parts. There may be multiple reasons for punch press jamming, and the following are some common reasons for analysis:
1. Abnormal overload protection function: This may cause the actual working tonnage of the  mechanical punch press to exceed the rated maximum value, resulting in an increase in axial force and causing the punch rod to jam.

2. Improper adjustment of mold height: If the mold height is adjusted at a position other than the top dead center, it may increase the radial friction and cause the punch to get stuck.

3. Improper adjustment of balancing cylinder pressure: The balancing cylinder pressure is not adjusted according to the weight of the upper mold. If it is too large or too small, it may lead to increased radial and axial forces, increasing the risk of jamming.
4. Damage or looseness of mechanical components: Key components such as connecting rods, sliders, gears, etc. may also affect the normal operation of the mechanical punch press, leading to jamming.
5. Mold problems: Damaged or severely worn molds, as well as improper installation or inaccurate adjustment of molds, can all cause the punch press to get stuck during the stamping process.
6. Hydraulic system failure: For hydraulic mechanical punch press, hydraulic system failures such as high hydraulic oil temperature and hydraulic pump failure may also cause the punching machine to jam.
7. Electrical system failure: Electrical system failures such as solenoid valve failure, poor contact of contactors, etc. may also affect the normal operation of the punch press.
To avoid the problem of  mechanical punch press jamming, it is recommended to regularly inspect and maintain the mechanical punch equipment, including checking the wear and looseness of mechanical components, adjusting the balance cylinder pressure, replacing damaged molds and components, and checking the normal operation of hydraulic and electrical systems. In addition, it should be ensured that the operators are familiar with the operating procedures and safety precautions of the punch press to reduce equipment failures caused by misoperation.
